Shimane Prefecture is home for mythology in Japan. Iwami Kagura, or Shinto theatrical dance performance from the Iwami region in Shimane, is a traditional entertainment that has been part of the life in Shimane and has been loved by the people of all ages; from small children to elderlies. Traditionally and even nowadays, masks have been hung in Japanese houses as amulets for the protection against evil. Masks are made of Sekishu Washi papers that are also used to repair national treasures in Kyoto together with other natural materials.
